Don't worry. I'm just hijacking your body. Calm down. It'll only hurt for about 45 seconds... then it'll be all over.
Sludge Villain to Izuku Midoriya in "Izuku Midoriya: Origin"

The Sludge Villain (ヘドロ (ヴィラン) Hedoro Viran?) is a D-rank Villain.[1]

Appearance

The Sludge Villain's body is made out of a dark green mud-like substance by virtue of his Quirk. He has sharp teeth and big, round eyes.

Personality

The Sludge Villain shows himself to be a selfish, cruel, and sadistic criminal. He was bold enough to steal in broad daylight and flee the scene with various bystanders watching until he found out All Might was near. While trying to escape from the Symbol of Peace, the Sludge Villain had no remorse about trying to possess the bodies of Izuku Midoriya and Katsuki Bakugo, a process that would have suffocated them to death.[2][3]

During the Final War, the Sludge Villain shows to be something of a coward who values his own self-preservation. He avoided combat and only pretended to fight rather than join his fellow villains in battle, and later attempted to possess Hitoshi Shinso, believing that he wouldn't have to spare any effort with Gigantomachia awake. Upon being bested by Mina Ashido, he chooses to flee rather than fight, stating that he would rather stay with the winning team.[4]

Synopsis

Entrance Exam Arc

Texas Smash

All Might defeats the Sludge Villain.

The Sludge Villain is fleeing the scene after robbing a bank, when All Might notices the villain and forces him to use the sewers to escape. While escaping, he decides to come out of the sewers to try and steal Izuku's body. However, All Might catches up to him and blows him apart with his Texas Smash, later trapping him inside two soda bottles.[2]

While All Might is en route to hand the villain over to the authorities, he loses the bottle due to a midair struggle with Izuku, and the Sludge Villain escapes from his imprisonment. He finds Katsuki and decides to take control of his body for his Explosion Quirk.

The villain proceeds to wreak havoc in the city with Katsuki's Quirk and none of the Heroes are able to subdue him effectively. Out of sheer moral determination, Izuku suddenly runs towards the Sludge Villain to help Katsuki despite being Quirkless. The Sludge Villain decides to attack Izuku, but before he can do so All Might stops the villain and defeats him with a Detroit Smash. Katsuki is freed of his control, and the Sludge Villain is taken into custody by the Police Force.[3]

U.A. Traitor Arc

In the aftermath of the Paranormal Liberation War, the Sludge Villain is one of the many Villains freed by All For One's raiding of several prisons. He is shown to join forces alongside the other mutant villains, answering the Paranormal Liberation Front's call to arms.[5]

Final War Arc

Hitoshi taken over by the Sludge Villain

The Sludge Villain attempts to take over Hitoshi.

As the Final War commences, the Sludge Villain takes part in the Villain's attack on the Jaku City Ruins in an effort to free Gigantomachia.[6] While the Heroes anticipated this and are able to put up a strong counterattack, several Liberation soldiers are successfully able to avoid capture, broadcasting All For One's voice to successfully re-awaken Gigantomachia and force him to break free of his containment.

During the battle, the Sludge Villain made sure to avoid directly fighting the Heroes, only pretending to fight a little before sneaking away. He stumbles upon Hitoshi Shinso in hiding and assimilates him into his body. Eijiro Kirishima came to find Hitoshi, with the intention to use him to brainwash Gigantomachia, but with Hitoshi now in his grasp, he gleefully proclaims that with Machia awake they win so why need to risk himself in battle, while saying he makes a much better hiding spot than "that middle school kid" from last time.

Mina saves Eijiro and Hitoshi from the Sludge Villain

The Sludge Villain is defeated by Mina's Acid.

In desperation, Eijiro tries to free Hitoshi, but the Sludge Villain's body is so slippery that he struggles to free Hitoshi. However, Mina Ashido arrives to help and uses her Acid to directly attack the Sludge Villain, shoving her hand right into his body, pouring the Acid in and causing it to mix with his Sludge. He begins to freak out at this, forcing him to break free and try to escape. They call out for him to wait, responding back that he's sticking with the winners, only to be affected by Hitoshi's Brainwashing, completely freezing him in place. Hitoshi then climbs on top of Gigantomachia and brainwashes him to attack the rest of the villains. With Machia now in the Heroes' control, the Sludge Villain and the rest of the Villains who were defeated are detained and arrested.[4]

Abilities

Quirk

Sludge Villain attacking Izuku

The Sludge Villain's Quirk being used to seize Izuku's body.

Unnamed Sludge Body Quirk: The Sludge Villain's Quirk transforms his body into a bulk of a mud-like substance. This fluid form makes him immune to physical attacks as shown when he was going against Red Riot trying to save Hitoshi Shinso from him.[7] It also gives him the ability to take over another person's body and use their Quirk against their will. It is also shown that his Quirk has a weakness to Acid and wind pressure due to it breaking up his mud-like substance causing him to fall apart.[8]
