The Second Round of Class 1-A vs. Class 1-B is a battle between Momo Yaoyorozu, Fumikage Tokoyami, Toru Hagakure and Yuga Aoyama against Itsuka Kendo, Shihai Kuroiro, Manga Fukidashi and Kinoko Komori.

Prologue

Itsuka challenges Momo

Itsuka admits that she always wanted to challenge Momo.

The second team from each class is prompted to take the field immediately following round one. Itsuka confronts Momo and asks her about the beauty pageant. Momo replies she didn't know about it plus she had band practice. Itsuka claims that ever since their internship together her and Momo always get treated like a pair. Toru says that some fans during Class 1-A's performance kept yelling out "Yaoyorozu and Kendo" while Fumikage calls it foolish.

Itsuka doesn't like being lumped in with Momo because she feels her rival has a better Quirk and better grades. Itsuka has always wanted the chance to fight Momo head to head. Momo accepts her friend's challenge. Shihai confronts Fumikage and claims their both alike. Fumikage recalls Shihai's Black Quirk ability. Shihai claims that he and Fumikage are fated to clash. They both walk away sharing statements from their fondness to darkness.

Team 2-B (Anime)

Team 2-B initiates their plan.

Vlad King announces the start of the second match. Hanta Sero asks Tetsutetsu what Itsuka's role in Class 1-B is. Tetsutetsu explains that Itsuka is the high spirited big sister that unites their class with her charm and skill. Shoto Todoroki wonders how Itsuka's decision making will fair against Momo's operation.[1]

Battle

Dark Shadow confronts Class 1-B Team

Dark Shadow sets out to defeat Class 1-B on his own.

As Team 1-A moves through Ground Gamma, Momo instructs Fumikage to scout for the opposing team as planned. Fumikage complies and sends out Dark Shadow across the arena ordering him to report back once he finds the opposing team. Meanwhile, on Class 1-B's team, Itsuka tells her team that they have a good idea of their rival's Quirks but also acknowledges how much they've improved. She believes both sides will wait to size each other up. Then Team 1-B meet Dark Shadow. Thanks to his connection to his living shadow, Fumikage relays the location of the rival team to his teammates.

Because he had strayed too far from Fumikage, he has less control over him, so Dark Shadow gets carried away by his violent nature, and decides to attack team 1-B on his own instead of retreating. However, Itsuka expected that Momo's team would use Dark Shadow to locate them, and asks Shihai to handle it. With the help of Manga, he phases into a wall and jumps down from an overhead pipe and over Dark Shadow, using his Quirk, Black to control it.

Shihai takes control of Dark Shadow

Shihai takes control of Dark Shadow.

As they march through the battleground, Class 1-A's team sees Dark Shadow return. Fumikage notices him acting strangely and warns his team to retreat and tries to retrieve Dark Shadow but Shihai manipulates the beast into striking its master. Struggling, Dark Shadow warns everyone that he is being controlled, and although he tries to resist, he cannot help but attack his own team members. He prepares to attack Yuga, who can barely move because of fear, but Momo instructs Toru to use Warp Refraction, weakening Dark Shadow and allowing Fumikage to recall him.

Shihai is forced out of Dark Shadow, and tries to make an escape. Momo creates and throws nets to try and restrain him. Shihai gets pinned down on to a pipe by one of them, but simply merges with the pipe's shadow and appears from above, boldly stating he will defeat Fumikage. Fumikage accepts the challenge, takes off his cloak and states he will face Shihai head-on with a new Ultimate Move taught to him by Hawks: Black Fallen Angel[1] Under the tutelage of Hawks, Fumikage learned to improve on his strengths and use his wings.

Shihai takes Yuga away

Using his deceitful tactics, Shihai snatches Yuga from Class 1-A.

After hearing the name of Fumikage's Ultimate Move, Shihai merges with the shadows and glides around through the pipes while daring Fumikage to show him what he has got. As Shihai moves through the shadows, Momo instructs the remaining teammates to stay close. Yuga is surprised Shihai is bold enough to individually attack again. They are worried about Fumikage, as they believe him to be Shihai's target because of his dialogue. However, it all turns out to be a ploy from Shihai, done to distract them from his true target: Yuga Aoyama.

After diverting his opponents' attentions with his emotional trap, Shihai sneakily takes Yuga away to the shock of everyone, and drags him through a maze of pipes while Yuga screams helplessly. Outside Ground Gamma, Ibara does not approve of the Sneaking Hero: Vantablack's underhanded tactics. The Class 1-A team sets off in pursuit,

but Shihai is sure no one on the other team is fast enough to pursue him through the narrow stage, especially Fumikage, because the characteristics of concrete jungle are suitable for his Quirk, while Fumikage's Dark Shadow is physically anchored to him.

Yuga uses Navel Buffet Laser to shift shadows

Yuga uses Navel Buffetā˜†Laser to force Shihai out of the shadows.

However, to his surprise and of everyone who is watching the round, Fumikage flies to Shihai and easily catches up to him with Black Fallen Angel. Dark Shadow carries Fumikage and acts as his wings while his cape is wrapped around them both. Fumikage soars past Shihai and rescues Yuga from him. Realizing that Plan A had failed, Shihai melts back into the shadows, but Momo tells Yuga to use his Navel Buffetā˜†Laser while Fumikage flies them around. This warps the shape of the shadows and takes away all of Shihai's hiding spots.

Without a shadow to hide in, Shihai flees but is pursued and rounded up by Toru and Momo, who claims that even the most unique circumstances are within her expectations. As they are about to capture the student from Class 1-B, mushroom suddenly start to grow all over the bodies of team 1-A members. Giggling, Shihai states Itsuka's plan stays one step ahead of Momo's.[2]

Ground Gamma infested by mushrooms

Team 1-B puts in motion plan B: cover the entire battlefield with mushrooms.

Itsuka's first plan was to use Shihai to attack their rivals with Dark Shadow. If this failed, Itsuka predicted the others would use light. This would be the signal for plan b. The light gives away Class 1-A's location, giving Manga and Kinoko the opening to barrage Class 1-A with their long-ranged Quirks.

Kinoko uses her Quirk to cover everything in Mushrooms, using her Shroom-Shooter to maker her spores spread more efficiently. Fungi starts to grow on everyone except on Class 1-B students and fill the entire area with mushrooms. Momo and Toru struggle to pluck off the ones sprouting on their bodies but they keep growing. This distraction is used by Shihai to escape and hide in a black mushroom.

Itsuka barrages Momo

Itsuka begins her attack.

Momo devises a plan to counter the situation and tries to order her team to regroup but Manga uses his Comic Quirk to spawn a giant wall of onomatopoeias that separates her from her team. Yuga tries to burn through it with his laser to no avail. Sheltered in his hiding place, Manga shouts out the onomatopoeias of humidity, causing mushrooms to grow faster, larger and in greater quantities. Toru freaks out at this and flees, while mushrooms continue to grow all over her body.

Itsuka planned on isolating Momo to cut the brain off of her team. She wants to crush her with raw power and believes she can win if she creates an advantageous situation. She attacks Momo with an enlarged palm thrust. Momo tries to block it with a dense shield but she's knocked back by Itsuka's Big Fists. Itsuka barrages Momo with enlarged fists of fury.

Double Jumbo Fist

Itsuka tries to stop Momo.

Momo believes that she isn't superior to Itsuka, but refuses to submit and resolves to earn the respect she's been given. Momo utilizes all the experiences she's had up until now and prepares a counterattack. Shoto comments that thinking under pressure will always be one of Momo's strongest abilities. Momo creates a cannon and apologizes for startling Itsuka.[3] Shocked, Itsuka jumps back thinking she is going to use the weapon against her, but suddenly Momo swings the cannon around towards the gigantic wall of letters.

Believing she plans to fire the cannon to destroy the wall that separates her from her teammates, Itsuka attacks Momo to stop her from firing the weapon, crushing her and her cannon by enlarging her hands-on impact with Double Jumbo Fist, only for Momo fire her ammunition over the wall at the moment she was hit, leaving Itsuka surprised when she realizes that destroying the wall was not her goal. Momo is about to lose consciousness due to a powerful blow that Itsuka gave her, so she uses her last force to generate a rope with which to tie herself to her rival along with the cannon.

Yaoyorozu's Lucky Bag (anime)

Yaoyorozu's Lucky Bag.

While the duel between Momo and Itsuka is taking place, Fumikage and Yuga fly around looking for their other teammates when Shihai pops out from above and snatch Yuga from Fumikage's arms, dragging him away again as he moves through a path of black mushrooms. Fumikage tries to pursue but Kinoko uses her Quirk to sprout mushrooms on his face, making it difficult for him to see. This is used by Manga to knock him down using his solid onomatopoeias. Manga begins to feel discomfort in his throat after using his Quirk too many times.

Fumikage recovers and is shocked to find Invisible Girl covered from head to toe by mushrooms. As he's brushing away the mushrooms off his teammate, Fumikage mulls over the desperate situation. Class 1-B has cut off Momo from the group, concealed themselves, and put their team in the perfect position to choke the life from Class 1-A's squad. Fumikage knows they must find Shihai, Manga, and Kinoko if his team has any chance at winning.

Sabbath

Fumikage finds Kinoko and Shihai.

Suddenly Fumikage and Toru hear the sound of a cannon shot, and they notice Yaoyorozu's Lucky Bag flying over the wall created by Manga. Fumikage grabs Toru and flies up to the bag, wonders what's packed in. Inside he finds ethanol to get rid of the mushrooms and infrared goggles, which Toru deduces that Momo created them specifically for Fumikage due to the design

Meanwhile, on Team 1-B field, Shihai reports Kinoko that he has already locked Yuga in their cage, being congratulated by his partner, which makes him blush. As Kinoko uses her Shroom-Shooter to moisten the surroundings, Shihai asks her if anyone from Class 1-A knows their current location. They're both shocked to notice Fumikage flying full speed at them, since thanks to infrared goggles he can locate them.

Toru strikes Manga

Toru hits Manga.

Manga sees Fumikage flying past him, and worries because he is zooming straight to were Shihai and Kinoko are. Suddenly, he hears Toru's voice behind him telling that the same goes for him. Toru sneaked up on Manga because she got rid of the mushrooms that covered his body and prevent them from growing back due to antifungal spray. This made her surmised that Class 1-B sterilized ahead of time to avoid the mushrooms. With nothing to reveal her presence, she starts hitting Manga nonstop, who can barely defend himself by not being able to see her in any way.

Fumikage uses the infrared goggles to find his enemies with blinding speed. Fumikage claims they can't run or hide any longer and strikes them both with Black Abyss: Sabbath. Shihai manages to withstand the blow and looks for somewhere dark to hide, but Fumikage is faster and captures him within his cloak, while Dark Shadow wraps up Kinoko. He prepares to take them to jail but starts coughing and reeling over. Smiling, Kinoko apologizes to Fumikage but since she doesn't want her team to lose, she has used her Quirk to sprout a split gill mushroom in his lungs, asphyxiating him. Neito comments that despite her low combat ability, Kinoko is to be feared.

Itsuka dragging an exhausted Momo and with Toru captured

Even in defeat, Momo stays one step ahead of Itsuka.

Toru continues to wail on Manga, and begins to attack with more intensity to knock him out as soon as possible to go help her teammates. When she is about to achieve it, she is captured by Itsuka with one of her giant grip. Manga thanks her for saving him, but he is surprised to see that Momo and a huge cannon are roped to her. Itsuka explains that while she won in their straight fight, Momo was able to execute a very well thought out plan that countered hers, and thus she doesn't feel victorious since Momo was always one step ahead.

Kinoko frees Shihai from Fumikage's cloth and Itsuka and Manga reunite with them. Seeing Fumikage gasping for air, Itsuka is surprised that Kinoko was forced to use her most dangerous technique to prevent Class 1-B from losing the match. This makes her understand how strong the rival class is.

Class 1-B sends all four members of Class 1-A to jail and wins the set 4-0.[4]

Aftermath

Round 2 Aftermath

Both teams retire to recover.

Kinoko apologizes to Fumikage for attacking his lungs and tells him to get medicine from Recovery Girl. The remaining members of Class 1-B team also comfort the members of the rival team and Itsuka accompanies Momo to the infirmary, who is carried on a chair by two Mini Transport Robots due to her injuries.

Shota Aizawa and Hitoshi Shinso comment on the extensive destruction done to Ground Gamma. Vlad King admonishes Itsuka and Manga for not keeping the damage down to a minimum, and both students apologize for it. Due to Kinoko's mushrooms having another two hours until they disappear, Vlad King and Shota agree to take a break from the fighting in order to shift the field for the next battle. All the students discuss the battle and commend each other's fighting skills.[5]
