Hanta And Fumikage Keep Up With Katsuki

Fumikage and Hanta jump over a 0-Point robot.

In the Obstacle Race, Hanta avoids Shoto Todoroki's ice with his Quirk and stays in the race.[8] He and Fumikage use their Quirks to climb over the humongous Villain Bots to get to the next area by following Katsuki's advance.[9] Hanta manages to place 8th in the Obstacle Race,[10] allowing him to participate in the next event, the Human Cavalry Battle. He teams up with Katsuki along with Eijiro and Mina Ashido.

After the Human Cavalry Battle begins, Katsuki jumps into the air and tries to attack Izuku Midoriya with an Explosion, but Fumikage uses his Dark Shadow to block it. Hanta uses his Quirk to catch Katsuki so that he can land safely back on his team's formation, which Eijiro praises Hanta for. After Neito Monoma takes his headband without trouble and mocks him for always being attacked by villains every year, Katsuki, infuriated, states that they will beat them first before going after Izuku.[11]

Team Bakugo Group Shot

Hanta joins Team Bakugo.

Hanta and his team continue to battle Neito, who manages to rebuke their efforts.[12] However, Katsuki eventually manages to grab two of Neito's headbands and Hanta uses his tape to grab Katsuki to reel him back onto the formation, with Hanta complaining that Katsuki did not warn them when he is about to jump off. However, Katsuki still wants more points and orders his team to attack; having Hanta use his Quirk and has Mina use her dissolving fluid.

Hanta and his team ride on Mina's fluid to reach Neito's team faster thanks to Hanta reeling in his tape. Katsuki attacks Neito for the final time and grabs his last headband, which places their team at second place. Katsuki, however, wants to collect the ten million point headband and Hanta goes with his team to where Izuku's team and Shoto's team are.

Shoto freezes Hanta

Shoto overpowers Hanta with his ice attack.

Midnight asks Hanta whether he can move or not, to which Hanta replies in agony that he can't move. As a result, because he is unable to move and unable to do anything, Hanta is declared defeated and is eliminated as a result. The audience tells Hanta to not mind his loss. Shoto goes to Hanta, apologizing to him for overdoing it and then melts the ice off of him with his fire power.[15]

Hanta, sitting next to Denki Kaminari, watches the match between Ochaco and Katsuki and notes that Katsuki is keeping a sharp eye against his opponent before making any moves.[16] After the match between Fumikage and Katsuki is over, Hanta states he thought that Fumikage would win.[17] Hanta along with his class watches the closing ceremony of U.A.'s Sports Festival.[18]

The test begins.[23]

Hanta falls asleep due to Midnight's Quirk and Minoru desperately tries to wake him up.[24] Hanta is sleeping on Midnight's lap while she waits for Minoru, much to Minoru's jealousy. Eventually, Midnight goes to chase after Minoru, leaving Hanta sleeping nearby the escape gate. Minoru uses Hanta's tape around his mouth along with his own Quirk as his plan to stick Midnight in place which works, allowing him to rush past her and avoid her sleeping gas. When Katsuki arrives and challenges Izuku, the boys opt to compete against each other by sprinting down the pool. When it is Hanta‘s turn, he tries to reach the other end of the pool using his Quirk without touching the water at all. Yuga Aoyama uses his Navel Laser to win the race, but in the middle of the flight, his Quirk begins to hurt him in the stomach, causing him to deviate and ends up crashing with Hanta, falling both to the swimming pool. Shoto wins the race.

Eventually, the field is shortened to Izuku, Katsuki and Shoto, but before they can start, Shota arrives and cuts their Quirks off due to their time limit for the pool expiring, kicking all the students out of the pool area.[28]

She instantly curls up into a ball of shame and Kyoka punches Hanta in the face, ordering him to apologize.[32]

Extra lessons

Hanta endures late night extra lessons.

After dinner, Hanta and the other students who failed their practical exams take extra lessons with Shota until two in the morning. Training starts back up at seven the next day. Hanta and the others are all super tired, but Shota forces them to train anyway.

At the third day of training, Hanta is happy because that night all the students will participate in a courage test. Shota, however, forces the extra lessons group to sit out for more teaching, much to their displeasure.[33] The Vanguard Action Squad of the League of Villains invade that night. Mandalay sends out a telepathic message warning the students of their arrival.[34] Shortly after Shota leaves, Mandalay sends out two more messages giving permission for students to fight back[35] and informing everyone that Katsuki is one of the villains' targets.[36]

The girls of Class 1-A show up and suggest a room showcasing competition.[38] The class looks at each others room, until they check out Hanta's room, which consists of traditional Asian design. The girls compliment him on it and he takes it in stride.[39]

The following day, Hanta, along with the rest of 1-A, are told by Shota that their next goal is to obtain their Provisional Hero Licenses. To ensure success in the Provincial Hero License exam, they will develop their own ultimate moves, along with the guidance of Midnight, Ectoplasm, and Cementoss in Gym Gamma.[40].

Hanta continues to train with his classmates following up to the day of the Provisional Hero License Exam. Outside of the National Dagobah Arena, Class 1-A meets with students from Shiketsu High School and Ketsubutsu Academy High School. The exam participants all gather to hear the rules of the exam from Yokumiru Mera from the Hero Public Safety Commission. The students find out they will be tested on speed, with only the first 100 out of 1540 passing the first test being able to move on to the next. Each student has six balls, and three targets to attach to their body. Those whose targets have been hit are disqualified. Participants need to eliminate two students to move on to the next phase of the exam.[41]

Class 1-A counterattacks

Class 1-A avoiding being eliminated.

The room in which the students are in unfolds to reveal the arena, in which there are varying environments to battle in. As the exam starts, the rest of the schools all attack U.A. at once, however, Class 1-A is able to defend themselves thanks to their ultimate moves. Hanta uses his tape to catch several of the rivals' balls. Yo Shindo tells his fellow classmates that he will shatter their solid defense, and uses his Vibrate Quirk on the ground, unleashing a powerful earthquake that shatters the ground and and causing members of class 1-A to disperse.[42]

Due to this attack, Hanta gets scattered, and has to defend himself from the attacks of the rest of the students while looks for his classmates. First he finds Ochaco, and later they notice Izuku fighting Camie Utsushimi (completely naked) and meet up on the way to help him. Hanta uses his tape to keep Camie away from Izuku while Ochaco arrives and tries to land on Camie but she dodges. Camie is disappointed that she can no longer talk with Izuku due to being outnumbered after Hanta and Ochaco's interference, so she retreats.

Izuku asks Hanta and Ochaco if they are real

Izuku asks Ochaco and Hanta if they are real.

Hanta tries to go after her but Izuku advises against it because Camie's targets aren't showing up on her naked body, reasons there is no point in chasing after her. Then, Izuku awkwardly asks if Hanta and Ochaco are the real versions of themselves. He explains that Camie was able to transform into Ochaco and everyone gets embarrassed. Hanta excitedly asks if the fake Ochaco was naked and Izuku replies that she wasn't.[43]

They hide behind large rocks and discuss their strategy. Izuku tells them they need to move quickly because thirty people have already passed the exam. Izuku, Ochaco, and Hanta talk about their situation and how rival students are starting to split up. Izuku tells Ochaco and Hanta that he will act as a decoy while they keep a distance from him and try to immobilize as many examinees as possible. Izuku, Ochaco, and Hanta prepare to enact their plan.[44]

Ochaco and Hanta's tape trap

Hanta and Ochaco tramp.

Izuku activates One For All: Full Cowl - Shoot Style and dashes past the group of examinees, being chased by them. Hanta catches up to him and asks him to carry them both into the air. When they reach a safe height above the ground, Ochaco releases debris attached to tape that traps their pursuers by sticking them to the ground. Izuku, Hanta, and Ochaco place their balls on six examinees and pass the first phase.[45]

While they head for the winner's waiting room, they are spotted by Denki, Eijiro and Katsuki. Ochaco, Hanta, Eijiro, and Denki celebrate passing together. Upon arriving at the waiting room, they find that Shoto, Momo, Tsuyu, Kyoka and Mezo had already passed the round. Momo is glad that all of them passed. In the end, all the class 1-A students manage to pass the exam.[46] While waiting for the organizers to prepare the second exam, which will consist in rescue victims of a large-scale terrorist attack, Hanta tells Denki and Minoru that Izuku got to fight Camie while she was naked. Both get jealous and started to antagonize Izuku.[47]

Rescue Operations

Hanta and his classmate rescue the victims.

The second phase of the exam begins and Hanta sticks with the rest of his class. He watches all the other students act professionally and sees the gap between first and second-year experience. Momo finds a man trapped beneath debris and Ochaco tries to float it. Momo stops her because there is an imbalance in the debris. Momo creates metal pillars and Hanta Sero tapes them together, reinforcing the wall. Ochaco begins clearing out the rubble. The man finds Momo, Ochaco, Hanta, and Rikido Sato's rescue maneuvers not to be shabby.[48]

Hanta passes the exam with 84 points, so he receives his provisional license.[49]

Mocking the class president.

The next day, Class 1-A attend the U.A. opening ceremony. On their way, they meet students from other classes, one of them being Hitoshi Shinso, asking for the bickering classes to move out of his way. As Hitoshi passes by, Hanta Sero comments on Hitoshi's improved physique since the U.A. Sports Festival.[50]

After the opening ceremony, at classes, Shota talks about Hero Work-Studies, hero activities done off campus. Three days later, Shota introduces to Class 1-A to the people who will teach them about Hero Work-Studies: Mirio Togata, Tamaki Amajiki and Nejire Hado, better known as The Big 3.[51] Despite they reputation as the best candidates for heroes of the U.A., they are actually all a bunch of easygoing eccentrics. Class 1-A get confused when Mirio Togata challenges them all to a fight.

At Gym Gamma, Mirio tells Class 1-A to attack him whenever and wherever they want.[52] Hanta, like the rest of his classmates, attacks him, but Mirio completely wipes out Class 1-A without breaking a sweat, thanks to his Quirk, Permeation. While Class 1-A recovers from their defeat, Mirio asks them if they think his Quirk is strong, and Hanta, with Toru and Mina, replies that his Quirk is too strong. Mirio explains how his Quirk works and advises class 1-A to participate in the Hero Work-Studies, as it will help them improve their career to be heroes, just as it helped him become one of the best students in the U.A.[53]

Round 4 Teams

Round 4's teams.

Shota Aizawa and Vlad King hold a Joint Training Battle between their classes during the early days of winter, with Hitoshi Shinso as a guest for this exercise, due being reviewed for consideration into the Hero Course. Vlad King and Shota begin the exercise immediately afterward. Each class chooses lots to split into five teams of four. As the teams are set, Hanta is placed with Katsuki, Kyoka, and Rikido, and they will face Class B's team of Yosetsu Awase, Setsuna Tokage, Kojiro Bondo, and Togaru Kamakiri at Round 4.[61]

Before the fourth round of the Joint Training Battle, Hanta and his team went over a strategy as Katsuki and his team discuss their strategy. He listened as Katsuki wanted to take the lead and charge ahead with the others serving as back up.[62] Katsuki gives each of them one of his grenades and tells them that he'll save them if they get in trouble and asks them to do the same for him.[63]

When the round start Katsuki rudely tells Hanta and Rikido to follow his lead and orders Kyoka listens for the other team while trailing them. Hanta spoke up against this, believing that they should lie in wait for an opportunity but Katsuki mocks him and argues that they need to act first and create their own opportunity. Hanta is annoyed by Katsuki's bossiness.

Barricade Tape (Anime)

Barricade Tape.

Class 1-A charges through Ground Gamma when they are ambushed by Class 1-B team. Setsuna's Quirk lets her spread out her separated limbs throughout the field and uses her tiny body parts to attack them. They barrage Katsuki with rapid-fire small hits and Hanta uses Barricade Tape to protect his team, so that the lizard parts cannot attack and proceeds to call Katsuki over.

Setsuna says that they are done for. Kojiro appears and uses Glue Squall to spray his adhesive all over Hanta's tape barricade. Hanta tries to lead the three of them away but Togaru uses his Quirk to slash a large pipe that crashes down toward the other team. Rikido tries to sacrifice himself to hold it up but Katsuki manages to fire a large enough explosion to save his team.[62]

Class 1-B decides to retreat after seeing that his plan has failed, but Katsuki is not willing to allow it and chase them. Yosetsu himself and bond Katsuki with his newly developed Super Move "High-Speed Construction: Weldcraft". Yosetsu runs away and hides within the pipes so Hanta can't get a clear shot off with his tape. Hanta realizes that Setsuna's eyes are making it easy for the other team to read their movements and decides to use his Quirk to search for one of her disembodied parts.

Rikido acts quickly and free Katsuki from his restraints. Katsuki flies at Yosetsu, but gets out of the way and lets his teammates take out the enemy. Hanta carries Kyoka to the fight and she attacks Yosetsu with Heartbeat Surround, stunning him. Then, Hanta wraps up Yosetsu. Class 1-A also quickly captures Kojiro and Togaru, leaving only Setsuna to capture.

Class 1-A Team 4 Wins (Anime)

Class 1-A Team 4 wins.

Hanta notes that although Setsuna's Quirk allows her to split apart into 50 parts, she appears to have a time limit to how long she can regenerate herself some spare parts. He surmises that she likely has to return her other pieces when regenerating to avoid going over her limit. Hanta attaches Katsuki's grenade to one of her pieces. Setsuna notices the grenade and avoids the blast, but she plays right into Katsuki's hands, who defeats her.[63]

The fourth Round of the Joint Training Battle ends with Class 1-A scoring a perfect victory with 4-0. Shota Aizawa commends Team 1-A for being able to cooperate well enough to reduce battlefield damage and efficiently capture the opposing opponents without any hassle.[64]

My Hero Academia: Heroes: Rising[]

During fall, the Hero Public Safety Commission devises the Hero Work Recommendation Project, to help to train the new generation of Heroes due All Might retirement. Weeks go by, and shortly after winter begins, after the Hero Interview Training, Class 1-A is sent to Nabu Island, a remote place in southern Japan. The Pro Heroes who protected the island are about to retire, so the students will take care of the place, performing duties as real heroes acting like their own "Hero Office", until the arrival of new Pro Heroes.

Fumikage and Hanta are helping out at the beach

Hanta and Fumikage ban swimming in the rock area.

Because Nabu Island is quite isolated from the rest of the country, and therefore far from any villain activity, there has been no notable incident since the last thirty years. For this reason, their work on the island basically involve mostly minor deeds. Hanta works alongside several of his classmates on the beach as lifesavers. He and Fumikage prohibit tourists from entering the rocky area as it is too dangerous. Hanta uses his Quirk to create a warning sign.

At night, after working all day, all Class 1-A students mention that despite they only did minor deeds, this kind of hero work is still hard, even though they're not fighting anyone. Then, the grateful island citizens bring a bunch of food for the kids as a token of appreciation for their help. After dinner, Hanta, Denki and other students invite Eijiro to join them at the onsen bath and says that Katsuki can't go because he has to patrol the grounds since he didn't do any hero work all day long. Katsuki complains, but the guys leave him be.

Shoto, Fumikage, Hanta and Rikido Team Up

Shoto, Fumikage, Hanta, and Rikido team up.

The next day, while Hanta and several class 1-A students wait in the office waiting for a request, a neighbor and Fumikage arrive to report that the island is being attacked by a group of villains. Tenya quickly organize the class to face this crisis. He splits the Class into groups in order to deal with the separate threats: Hanta, alongside Tenya, Shoto, Sato and Fumikage will fight the villain at the beach as Ochaco and Koda assist with the evacuation of the tourists and residents.

Once there, they fight Chimera, but despite outnumbering him, the villain is superior to the students. At one point Hanta uses his Tape as Shoto uses his ice to restrain Chimera, but the villain uses his enormous strength to break free. Chimera continues fighting the students until he sees a flare in the sky. This was a sign from his allies indicating that he must withdraw. Chimera obeys the order and leaves.

Tsuyu, Mina, Hanta and Koji helping in the kitchen

Hanta reports about the captured villain.

At night, the students retreat to a factory to heal their wounds and provide first aid to the inhabitants of the island. Hanta helps bring supplies for students to prepare meals for refugees. Mina asks him about the villain that Katsuki had defeated, and Hanta replies that he is locked up and chained inside the machine room, but he refuses to talk to any of them after they questioned the villain.

Later, Class 1-A have a meeting where they discover that the objective of the villain leader, Nine, is to steal the Cell Activation Quirk from a boy named Katsuma. With this information, they devise a plan to approach them in front and keep civilians safe. The plan is to lure the villains to the furthest corner of the island where ancient castle ruins are. The heroes will engage the villains using the terrain to their advantage and spit the villains apart, so each member has to face several students alone. After his previous fight against Nine, Izuku concludes that Nine cannot use his multiple Quirks for too long as he suffers from intense pain when he does. To deal with Nine, everyone will attacks him in waves to force Nine to use his Quirks all the time until he reaches his limit and cannot continue fighting.

Tape Shot Trident

Hanta attacks Nine with his Trident.

The next morning, Nine and his crew arrive at the entrance to the island. They fall into Class 1-A's trap and are forced to split up by Yuga and Momo's Ultimate Moves; and as planned, the students take turns attacking Nine to force him to use his Quirks as much as possible, managing to disperse the villains. Following Izuku's plan, Hanta and Ochaco commence their assault on Nine by constantly throwing boulders at him. The villain uses his Laser Bullet Quirk to destroy the rocks and attack Ochaco and Hanta, forcing them to retreat.

They both go back to Minoru's position, where there is a trap they had set up for Nine: a large amount of rocks contained by wooden posts. Ochaco uses her Gravity Quirk to remove the posts, falling to the ground, exhausted, and having to be moved out the way by Hanta of the massive rock slide that she caused. Then Hanta helps Minoru, as he uses his Quirk to make the rocks stick together even harder to bury the villain. However, Nine is able to break free easily with his Quirks and the shock wave knocks down Ochaco, Hanta, and Minoru. The Villain prepares to shot a powerful attack on them when Izuku and Katsuki steps in and attacks him.

Class 1-A helps in rebuilding Nabu Island 01

Class 1-A helps with the reconstruction.

Deku and Katsuki continue to fight Nine, as the villain keeps using his various quirks to hold them off. Nine prepares to shoot them again, but Hanta intervenes and wraps Nine's arm with his tape and attacks him, but he is defeated after Nine uses his laser to blast him. Katsuki yells for his friend as Hanta falls to the ground, unconscious and unable to continue fighting.

While he is unconscious, Izuku and Katsuki manage to defeat Nine, saving the island and its inhabitants in the process. After Class 1-A emerged victorious over the threat, the military and a large number of heroes arrive on Nabu Island, rescuing the civilians and medically treating Class 1-A. The villains are arrested, and Class 1-A continues to stay on Nabu Island to help repair the damage done by Nine and his villains until the Public Safety Commission suspends the program and orders them to be sent home. With the island being repaired by the military and the heroes, Class 1-A boards a ferry to return to the U.A. High School.[65]

Endeavor Agency Arc[]

Episode 101

Class 1-A's Christmas party.

Along with Denki Kaminari, Hanta makes fun of Katsuki because, as both find hilarious that all of Katsuki's footage from his interview after defeating a group of villains was cut out by the interview staff due his behavior. Later, he participates in a Hero Interview Training impart by Mt. Lady.[66]

Days later, the Hero Work Recommendation Project takes place, staying on Nabu Island before returning.[65]

On the night of Christmas Eve, he celebrates Christmas with his classmates, holding a surprise gift exchange. Hanta gets a frog-shaped object from Tsuyu, while Kyoka gets his blanket of exotic patterns.[67]

With Hero Work-Studies back in effect, he, Denki Kaminari, Minoru Mineta, and Ibara Shiozaki go work for The Lurkers.[68]

My Hero Academia: World Heroes' Mission[]

Egypt Task Force

Hanta in the Egypt Task Force.

During the Work Studies, the entire team of The Lurkers joins the operation organized by the World Heroes Association to finish off Humarise, an anti-Quirk cult that had set off a Trigger Bomb in a city, causing a high number of victims. Therefore, the WHA has gathered a large force made up of heroes from around the world to assault the branches that Humarise has in 25 cities around the world. As one of The Lurkers' trainees, Hanta joins the Egypt Task Force, where he meets Salaam, Egypt's top Hero.

The heroes lead an assault on a Humarise forward operating base in Cairo. Despite their successful raid, the heroes fail to locate the Trigger Bombs or any of the Humarise's leaders. The Egypt team were ordered to be on standby. During the time, they watch on the TV news that Izuku is framed for mass murder by the Otheon government. Hanta and his classmates refuse to believe it and voices their opinion in defense of Izuku's innocence. He is sure it must be some kind of mistake, an opinion supported by an enraged Minoru.

Hanta and Minoru fighting Humarise

Hanta and Minoru fight tirelessly to stop Humarise.

While they are stationed in Cairo, Humarise publicly broadcast to the entire world that they have planted the Trigger Bombs in over twenty-five countries, one of which where Cairo is located, and they will detonate the bombs in two hours to "cleanse" the population of their Quirks. As the result, Cairo is locked in a state of anarchy and chaos, so the Egypt team scramble to quell the hysteria and locate the Trigger Bomb. Hanta, Denki, and Minoru follows Salaam to locate it.

The heroes manage to find the bomb, having to engage in an all-out war against the Humarise agents who protect it. During the battle, the heroes are informed that Izuku's group intend to storm Humarise's main base in order to defuse the bombs worldwide. Inspired by the resolve of their classmates, Hanta along with Minoru refuse to give up fighting the villains, using their respective Quirks to retain as many of Humarise's agents as possible.

Egypt Task Force celebrates victory

The Lurkers celebrating that disaster has been averted.

The Lurkers manage to reach the bomb just as the countdown ends, but after a few seconds nothing happens, indicating that Izuku's group had managed to deactivate the Trigger Bombs in time, saving the world from catastrophic destruction. With the main threat neutralized, the heroes defeat the last of Humarise's agents and seize the device, celebrating the victory.

Once the crisis has been averted, the team leave the country and return to Heights Alliance, meeting with the other classmates who also participated in the operation as well as those who remained in the school. Hanta and Denki take the opportunity to show Katsuki a Salaam merchandising item, something that doesn't interest him.[69]

Paranormal Liberation War Arc[]

Denki, Hanta and Minoru’s improvements

Hanta, Denki, and Minoru showing their improvements.

Winter break is over and the students return from their Work-Studies to continue their studies and show their progress with their Quirks and skills.[70] At Ground Alpha, under the supervision of All Might, the students battle Villain Bots to show off the new skills and Super Moves they have developed. Denki, Hanta, and Minoru show off their teamwork and new team moves.[71] Later at night, Hanta helps his classmates to organize a Work Study/Brainstorm/Hot pot party to energize everyone for the new term.[72]

At some point, All Might asks him, Ochaco, and Tsuyu to help Izuku with his training. Izuku explains he wants to learn to use Blackwhip more properly, which is why he asks Hanta for help because his Quirk, Tape, is similar in some way. Hanta accepts but asks if it would not be better if Shota helps them in that matter. All Might explains that Shota is very busy with other matters at the moment which is why he isn't present. Understanding this, the three classmates help Izuku with his training, unaware that their assistance will also help to give Izuku some future control over Float when it manifests.[73]

Villa Backup Team (Anime)

The Villa Backup Team wait for the signal to attack.

Months later, by the end of March, Hanta and several other students are involved in an operation to take down the Paranormal Liberation Front, the villain organization lead by Tomura Shigaraki. The Hero Public Safety Commission had uncovered the plans of the Paranormal Liberation Front, so they organized a large force of heroes to take the PLF down. While a team of heroes raid the Jaku General Hospital, where the Nomu are created, another team does the same at Gunga Mountain Villa, the Front's main headquarters.[74][75]

Hanta is a member of the Villa Backup Team along with some of his classmates and Class 1-B students. When the operation starts, Hanta tells Minoru to get up, but he retorts by saying that the rear guard's job is to catch anyone that slips past the front line, so getting pumped up would be an insult to the Pro Heroes, but Hanta tells him again to get up.[76]

Mole

Hanta and the Heroes fight against Machia.

After the raid commenced, heroes gained the upper hand, taking down many of the Front's members.[77] However, the Jaku team allowed Tomura to awaken and he ordered Gigantomachia to come to him.[78] This results in the giant defeating many heroes as he simply walked towards Jaku City. After being informed by Midnight, Momo devises a plan and communicates it to her teammates. She creates several vials filled with sedative and give one to each of them,[79] explaining that the plan is to make Gigantomachia swallow at least one.

When Gigantomachia gets to where they are, he falls into a trap set by Momo and Juzo, at which point the students begins their assault. While some are in charge of facing the League's members he carries on his back, others, including Hanta, try to throw the vials into his mouth. The hulking villain blows them away with his powerful breath, but the students continue with the assault,[80] and finally with the help of some heroes and great efforts, they get Gigantomachia to swallow a vial.

U.A

Hanta and the U.A. students are horrified of Gigantomachia's rampage.

More heroes come to face the villains, but annoyed by the constant interruptions, Gigantomachia transforms,[81] taking on an armored appearance, and with his enormous strength he finally manages to get out of the trap and easily defeat the heroes. One of the heroes, Majestic, used his Quirk to bring the students to safety before being defeated. Gigantomachia continues on his way to Tomura, destroying everything in his path.

The students of U.A. watch with complete horror at the destruction left by the monster. An astonished Hanta asked Mezo about the situation of the heroes, but he is unable to give him an answer. Dismay spreads between them to the point that some wonder if the drug really has an effect on the giant.[82]

Two days later in Central Hospital, Hanta, Minoru, Toru, and Rikido are present in Katsuki's room when he woke up from his injuries. They are relieved with Katsuki's recovery, seeing his short fuse as a sign of wellness, much to Katsuki's annoyance. Katsuki then asks what happened to everyone else, but the students can't help but show worried expressions with the current state of hero society.[83] After the Paranormal Liberation War ended, Hanta returns to Heights Alliance and alongside the rest of the class receives a letter from Izuku explaining his origins as being Quirkless and the power of One For All, making his reasons to leave U.A. High to guarantee their safety from All For One.[84]

Dark Hero Arc[]

Endeavor allows Class 1-A to take his phone

Hanta and the other classmates scramble for the phone.

A few days after Izuku left U.A., Hanta joins a meeting with Class 1-A. He and his classmates deduce that Izuku is now working with Endeavor and his team, as well as All Might. A few days later, impatient with their response, Class 1-A pushed forward using Endeavor's U.A. Alumni status to confront him and finally learn the truth.

Hanta notices Endeavor's phone, recognizing it as also having a GPS, and he tosses it, which several of the students catch. The classmates proceed to state their desire to help Izuku, how learning about One For All and his leaving was a shock, but still declaring they want to follow wherever he goes and help bear the responsibility he must carry. Once Principal Nezu gives them permission to bring back Izuku to U.A, Hanta joins with the rest of Class 1-A to search for Izuku while at the same time, apprehending any prison escapees along the way. After about a month of trailing Izuku's whereabouts, Hanta and Class 1-A finally arrive on the scene to defeat the villain Dictator. When Izuku refuses to yield, he demands everyone to get out of his way, which means they might have to fight him.[85]

Hanta willing to stop Izuku

Hanta tries to stop Izuku from fleeing.

Izuku tries to escape with his Blackwhip, but Hanta manages to subdue Daigoro Banjo's Quirk and wrap one of Izuku's hands with his own Tape, preventing him from conjuring another one, while also commenting on how freaky it looks and it being the reason everyone is so scared of him now. Izuku remembers that it was thanks to his advices that he was able to use Blackwhip more effectively and creatively in the first place.[86]

Once Izuku rips the Tape free, he is constantly attacked by several other classmates before being finally caught by Tenya. Hanta rejoins with the rest of Class 1-A and listens to Katsuki apologizing to Izuku before he collapses from the shock and exhaustion. Once Izuku is safely secured, he escorts him with the rest of the class back to a heavily fortified U.A. High, where Class 1-A is confronted by angry civilians, protesting Izuku's entry.[87] They are aware that Tomura is after Izuku and fear them being in danger, leading Ochaco to give a pleading speech toward the crowd on why he needs their help and deserves to stay and rest, with the civilians eventually agreeing.[88] Izuku is escorted inside, where Hanta and the other boys of the class quickly strip him of his dirty clothes, washing him vigorously and then dumping him in the bathtub before joining in. After finishing the bath, Izuku finally passes out from exhaustion, and Hanta joins the rest of the class in declaring they'll do whatever they can to bring back the world and make it better.[89]

U.A. Traitor Arc[]

Two days later, Class 1-A learn that during this time, Tomura had fought American No. 1 Hero, Star and Stripe, and while she was killed during the battle with Tomura successfully stealing her Quirk, New Order, thanks to her actions, the Quirk acted like a virus within his body, destroying several of his Quirks and delaying his procedure by about a week. All Might informs all this to the class, telling them that this is now their perfect time to prepare for the inevitable all-out war. The class reveals over the past month they had been training with the Wild, Wild Pussycats in order to keep up with Izuku in the incoming conflict, and are now about to head out to continue their training.[90]

The class proceed to train amongst themselves in the courtyards outside. Shortly after this, Hanta alongside the rest of the class discover the news that Izuku has captured the Aoyamas and revealing Yuga to be the traitor who isolated the class at the U.S.J. and revealed the location of their training camp. Once the Aoyamas are restrained, he and the other class refuse to back down from the news despite Nezu's request, all in stunned and tears of Yuga's betrayal. He listens to Yuga's desperation that drove him to despair and then Izuku pleading to let Yuga help them, leading the class to realize Yuga may be the only one able to deceive All For One.[91]

Class A eager to take down All For One

Hanta and the others vow to bring All For One down.

Present Mic asks Class 1-A why, with them being the greatest victims after all this, they're so willing to trust him, and Tenya simply responds that what happened is in the past, and with them being unable to realize how he's been feeling all this time, they carry some responsibility, so they must reach out to him as friends in order for them to become equals again. Katsuki comments how due to what he's had to deal with because of him a couple Howitzer Impact shots would make them even, with Hanta adding may be going a bit too far. Shota then appears on a tablet screen, taking full responsibility and reveals that he has an idea. He listened to Shota's plan after the Aoyama Family's ears have been covered. Naomasa then has the Aoyama Family escorted back to their HQ, telling everyone not to say a word to anyone else about the plan while he and the rest of the class look on sullenly.

Back at Heights Alliance, Hanta takes a breather, before getting ready to gear back up, as he and everyone, with fire and rage in their eyes over the betrayal, prepares to bring All For One down once and for all.[92] He joins up with their "Search Squad" to head out to hunt down the villains.[93]

Makeshift Fortress Troy

Hanta moves out of U.A. and into the makeshift fortress "Troy."

Later that night, he and his classmates return to Heights Alliance for a break after coming up with nothing from their search. All Might, Naomasa, and Nezu then arrive, informing them all about their secret finalized plans for the upcoming Second War.[94] They call in Hitoshi Shinso, revealing their plan to get him to brainwash the Aoyamas so that they can communicate with All For One without him detecting any ill intent. The class cheers on Hitoshi for his growth, including their teacher after learning he trained him.[95]

The next day, Nezu announces to the civilians that Tomura will make his big move in 4 days, with Class 1-A moving outside of the U.A. barrier to began prioritizing their safety. He says his goodbyes before moving out of Heights Alliance and into its upgraded makeshift fortress called "Troy".[94]

Final War Arc[]

U.A

Hanta and his classmates exit the Warp Gate to fight the villains.

With the number of Heroes rapidly dwindling, those that remain and the Counter-Force plan for an all-out Final War to defeat All For One and his army of villains. The plan is to utilize Neito Monoma's Copy Quirk to copy Kurogiri's Warp Gate, which will not only allow the Heroes to catch the Villains off guard, but also allow them to separate the Villains all over Japan. They also plan to use Yuga as bait and lure All For One out in an open spot where they want them.

On the day of the operation, Hanta remains with Class 1-A until Izuku made contact with Yuga, successfully luring the villains out in the open, before the Heroes are summoned to the battlefield thanks to Neito and Warp Gate. All Might promptly activates the "Troy" defense system, encasing the villains into cages long enough for the Heroes to push them all into separate Warp Gates, splitting them up all over Japan.

Hanta, alongside Mashirao and Rikido, are sent to the Takoba National Stadium to battle a group of villains. They eventually receive word of Shoto defeating Dabi, causing the latter two to comment on Shoto's behalf, while Hanta looks on, contemplating about something.[96]

Initially, they had the upper hand after defeating the other villains present at the stadium, but they struggle against an Tartarus escapee known for wide-range devastation and battles of attrition, Gashly Eijiju. His duplications are outnumbering Hanta and the Heroes as they cannot fend off against the duplications for much longer until Warp Gates conjured around them, and more Heroes arrive to reinforce the ones in the stadium. Setsuna Tokage and Togaru Kamakiri ambushes the villain from above after being teleported by the Warp Gate and knocks him down with a two-punch combo attack, defeating him. Once they managed to defeat the villain, the Heroes are being teleported through the Warp Gates to Mt. Fuji where Izuku and "All For One" are battling to the death.[97]

Shota regroups with his three students at the stadium, and with assistance from "Kurogiri", warps them to Mt. Fuji to provide reinforcements for Izuku in his fight against Tomura. As a result of the battle, All For One retakes control over Tomura's body, and Izuku completely loses both of his arms. Before "All For One" can attack Izuku, Hanta appears from behind, using his Tape to hold him back. Hanta declares they're here to save him, when Mashirao and Rikido also arrive, smashing the villain back with a Tornado Tail Dance and Sugar Knuckle combo attack. Shota also emerges from the Warp Gate, apologizing for the delay.[98]

Shota declares it is time to start Phase 3 of the divide and conquer operation, as many Warp Gates begin to appear around the battlefield. "All For One" asks him if they've come to have their Quirks stolen before more Warp Gates teleport an army of Heroes, including Class 1-A students into the battlefield to confront "All For One."[97]
