Denki Kaminari & Mina Ashido vs. Nezu is a battle fought between Class 1-A students Denki Kaminari & Mina Ashido and Principal Nezu during their First Term Final Exam.

Prologue

During the U.A. faculty meeting regarding the practical exam changes, Nezu decides to face Mina and Denki because their grades are low and they need to learn to restrain their Quirks. [1]

Battle

Denki and Mina jog through Field Gamma and agree to run from the principal. Denki says Nezu is small and he can just electrocute him if he finds them. Mina agrees that she should not try to melt the principal with her Acid. They're interrupted when suddenly the structures around them begin to fall apart. Denki and Mina frantically run away from the falling debris.

High Spec

Nezu outsmarts his students.

The person behind it is none other than Nezu himself. He sits in a crane while sipping on his tea. Nezu uses a wrecking ball to destroy certain buildings to cause chain reactions throughout Field Gamma. Nezu's superior intellect allows him to predict Denki and Mina's moves. The students fail to realize while they run that Nezu is destroying all of their escape routes.

Denki and Mina find somewhere to hide for a moment. Mina asks Denki to zap their opponent but they still don't know where Nezu is. They make another break for the exit and notice their route is cut off. Then they're nearly crushed by more falling scrap metal. Mina melts the wall of a building and they run into it. Nezu crushes the building almost instantly.

Nezu's strategy proves to be too perfect for the tandem. Although he leaves one path to the escape gate open, Denki and Mina don't find it in time. The time limit expires and both of them fail the practical exam.[2]

Aftermath

Nezu laughs at his victory. In the monitoring room, Izuku Midoriya and his peers discuss how they lost without ever even seeing their opponent. Ochaco Uraraka enters the room and is surprised to see that Mina's team lost. Denki and Mina are forced to take extra classes during the Quirk Training Camp.

Anime and Manga Differences

In the manga adaptation of this battle, Nezu explains the rules of the exam to them alone rather than Shota Aizawa doing it along with all the teachers.[3] Denki and Mina took the test at the same time as everyone else instead of going sixth.[4]
